Properties

Veggie is a powder food supplement made solely of vegetable proteins from three specific sources: oat, yellow pea and lupine, with the addition of B-group vitamins that contribute to normal energy and protein metabolism - also including vitamin B12, which is normally lacking in vegetarian subjects.

Proteins are an essential macronutrient to maintain the organism in perfect efficiency at all ages, and they are key to fight old-age sarcopenia.

Oat is a great source of proteins which composition is very similar to that of soy. Compared to other cereals, it has high nutritional quality and presents a higher level of tryptophan.

Its digestibility is equal to 90%, comparable to that of rice and wheat. Oat is rich in mineral salts (especially manganese, zinc and phosphorus), vitamin B1 and beta-glucans.

The latter are dietary fibre components that help regulate intestinal activity and control cholesterol.

Pea proteins are obtained directly from the legume with a technology that does not involve the use of chemicals.

Its protein content is 53%, with extremely low fat and carbohydrate percentages and 97% digestibility.

The pea’s amino acid profile is excellent.

The limiting amino acids are methionine and cysteine, and to a lesser extent tryptophan.

Lupine is a typical leguminous plant of the Americas generating seeds with high protein contents and polyunsaturated fats of the Omega-3 group.

Proteins present a 90% digestibility; the amino acid spectrum of lupine protein isolate is smaller than that of soy and pea proteins, mainly because of its low content of essential amino acids such as lysine and tryptophan.
